Editorial Standards

Editorial Standards We link the filings, releases and data behind our reporting where readers can inspect them. We identify estimates and distinguish company forecasts from reported results.

Verification Reporters must verify all factual claims, figures and direct quotations through primary documents, official filings or at least two independent and reliable sources. Quotations must be checked against audio recordings, video or original transcripts before publication to ensure absolute accuracy.

Anonymous sources Anonymous sourcing is permitted only as a strict last resort when vital information cannot be obtained on the record and the source faces credible risk or reprisal. The use of unnamed sources requires written approval from the Editor-in-Chief and Managing Editor, and stories must provide readers with sufficient context regarding the source’s motivations.

Right of reply Subjects of critical reporting are contacted directly with specific allegations and given a fair opportunity to respond. Subjects are provided a minimum window of 24 hours to review and reply, adjusted appropriately for breaking news situations or complex investigative pieces.

Editorial review All investigative features, market moving exclusives and sensitive enterprise reports undergo a mandatory secondary review and edit by the Standards Editor or Managing Editor prior to publication.

Attribution We credit other publications when we rely on their reporting and link to it where possible.

Analysis and opinion News stories report what happened. Analysis is labeled Analysis and sets out a writer’s interpretation with the evidence for it. Opinion pieces are labeled Opinion on every page where they appear.

Automation Market data modules are filled automatically from licensed providers and are never presented as news stories. AI tools and automated writing assistants are used strictly for administrative support, transcription or copyediting assistance under direct human supervision. AI tools never generate original reporting, conduct interviews or independently verify facts.
